“The Voice of the Philippines” finalist Morissette feels grateful for having been dubbed as the country’s “Next Big Diva” during her contract signing last Thursday (August 14) held at ABS-CBN.

Morisette Amon

“Morissette is not just like any traditional diva who can hit high notes. She has a very distinct tone that can adapt to many music genres. And that versatility is something that we will showcase in her debut album with us,” said Star Records’ audio content head Jonathan Manalo.

After sealing the one-year recording contract, the 18-year-old Kapamilya singer announced that she is ready to give her all, and she’s not afraid of criticisms and intrigues, including that of being compared to her idol and coach in “The Voice,” Sarah Geronimo.

“Being compared with Coach Sarah is a given because since the beginning everyone knows that she is my idol,” said Morissette.

“Now, I’m just determined to hone my talent and offer something new to the public. I want to prove to them that I’m not just a ‘clone’ or a ‘second Sarah.’ I think I’m more than that,” she said.

When asked about the possibility of trying to do TV and movies, Morissette said she is open with the idea.

“Given the chance, I want to work with Enrique (Gil) and Sam (Concepcion). Since we’re already friends, we will be comfortable to work with each other,” said Morissette.

After performing the theme song of ABS-CBN’s afternoon drama series “Moon of Desire,” Morisette is currently busy promoting the song composed by Francis Louis Salazar titled “Akin Ka Na Lang,” which is one of the 15 song finalists at the “Himig Handog P-Pop Love Songs 2014.”

According to Star Creatives head Malou Santos and Star Music head Roxy Liquigan, Morissette will start working on her debut album after “Himig Handog.”

Also present at the contract signing were Morissette’s managers Carlo Orosa and David Cosico.

Filipino music royalty Paolo Valenciano takes the spotlight with the release of his first solo album titled “Silence/Noise.”

Paolo Valenciano

Released under Star Records, Paolo’s album features a collection of alternative rock tracks, which, according to him, tell the story of his life.

“My album is like a middle ground, where two elements meet–rock merging with anthemic pop,” said the 30-year-old musician-turned-concert-director and frontman of rock band Salamin.

“As a recording artist, I give myself a normal rating in terms of musical skill and artistry. But what I lack in talent I make up for with vision. When I work on the first few lyrics of a song, I already picture the last scene of the music video. My ideas are what keep me going,” said Paolo.

Among the tracks included in Paolo’s “Silence/Noise” album are “Tag Ulan,” “Pangako,” “Hanggang Kailan Kita Mahihintay,” “Parusa,” “Kislap,” and the carrier single “Muling Magbabalik.” It also contains the acoustic versions of “Muling Magbabalik” and “Parusa” as bonus tracks.

“Silence/Noise” is now available in record bars nationwide for only P250. The tracks can also be downloaded via iTunes, Amazon.com, Mymusicstore.com.ph, and Starmusic.ph.

“My current single, ‘Chinito Problems’ was just originally meant for digital release. That’s why I feel so blessed when we eventually worked on a full album containing my type of music that my followers will surely appreciate too,” said Enchong, adding that he dreamt of becoming a singer since he was nine.

Aside from his radio hit single “Chinito Problems,” Enchong’s six-track album also features his own song titled “Isip o Puso,” which he composed during the promotion of “Once a Princess,” his reunion movie project with love team partner Erich Gonzales.

“Everyone can relate with the songs in my album. There’s something for those who are in-love, heartbroken, and even those who just love to dance and have fun,” said the 26-year-old actor-singer, whose musical influences range from ’90s boybands such as Backstreet Boys and ‘N Sync, to music icons such as Michael Jackson, Josh Groban, and Usher.

Completing the tracklist of Enchong’s album are “Step No Step Yes,” “Hanggang Dito Na Lang,” “Seloso” and “Tambalang OMG,” which he sang with Kapamilya leading lady star Alex Gonzaga. It also includes the alternative version of “Step No Step Yes” and minus one versions of all the songs.
